


SIGCHI (Student Interest Group for Computer-Human Interaction) under ACM is an international community for students and professionals in Human–Computer Interaction. We at SMI SIGCHI are a student-first club that's building a multidisciplinary HCI community through designathons, workshops and talks focused on empowering students to think creatively and strategically.

At the start of my second year, I made the wonderful decision to join SIGCHI as a Web & Tech Member. I came in hoping to learn all about web design and development, little did I know what a rollercoaster it would be.

Jan 18-19th 2025
Envision 2025 was SMI SIGCHI’s inaugural designathon. Where I helped design and develop multiple sections of the website, going from ideating to creating wireframes and live updating the site during the event.

April 2025
Towards the end of my second year, I was appointed as the Webmaster and Tech Head for the following year.

Nov 2025
My first project as Web & Tech Head was redesigning the main website to improve its UX, UI and storytelling. Over two months, my team and I conducted a small heuristic evaluation, created extensive wireframes and upgraded multiple pages across the site.

While my team and I were busy upgrading the website, we at SIGCHI also held a Figma workshop (Design Karkhana), where I co-facilitated a session aimed to help students in my college pick up the basics of Figma.

Jan 31st - 1st Feb
Over the span of one month, my team and I extensively ideated, designed and developed the website for Envision 2026. We went from low and high fidelity wireframes to even vibe-coding some of the site’s animations.

While I was busy fixing stacks and frames, I picked up and followed these 3 simple steps that pushed me to grow not only as a designer but as a student too.

Just like a Maruti 800, I always made sure to break tasks down. Whether it was building websites or creating graphics, breaking things into smaller parts helped me understand the context and design more effectively.
